Hi, I am Mel from Miss Bliss Nails and this is my story.
Ok be kind, this is my first ever Blog and I just wanted to start out by introducing myself and sharing a little about how I got here.
Even though I am often called Miss Bliss, Melissa Harrop is my name and I am 31 years young. I am a wife to Matt and Mother to Chloe (2yrs).
I was born in Nelson, lived in Auckland and Melbourne as a child then finished high school as a boarder at St Margaret's College in Christchurch.
I spent 11 years working in civil infrastructure with contractors selling pipe and fittings to them and I really enjoyed that time. It certainly was NOT what I anticipated doing as a career but it happened and I have great memories and wonderful relationships from that time.
In 2010 I decided that I needed a new hobby and my nail technician had moved to Australia so I decided it was time I learnt myself. I always had amazing nails myself and must have been my nail technicians favourite client because I had them prepped and ready for her at each appointment.
Five months before I had Chloe I became an Educator and that has been such a wonderful experience being able to share my passion with others. Currently I have put educating on hold as I am focusing on the next stages for Miss Bliss, my family and expanding my own skills. I have trained and worked with some of the best in the industry which has been immensely inspiring.
When I started playing around with 'Nail Art' it seemed things just took off for me. I cannot believe what has come of this little hobby. I have featured several times on TV2's 'What Now' and 'The 430 Show', I've made so many incredible friends and contacts, I was approached by Revlon to review their new nail products and often visit stores demonstrating these and I have a successful business that turned ONE this June. Anyone who knows me can confirm I am a very dedicated, motivated and hard worker which is what is behind this success in just one year. I plan on taking Miss Bliss as far as I possibly can, I have never been more ambitious about anything else in my life. When you feel so strongly and passionate about something, you need to aim for the stars and go after it.
I have recently started volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House and will continue this each month. I LOVE that I can use my job to bring some colour and smiles to people experiencing such a tough time. It's the little things that can make such a difference in ones day. I couldn't be prouder to be a part of this.
My mission is to keep giving my clients the best and most beautiful nails I possibly can and to help educate in this industry so more people can give the best and most beautiful nails to their own clients. This is a fun and exciting career and our nails are by far, our best accessory...
Lastly I certainly wouldn't be here today without my incredible family, friends and loyal clients who have and still do support me. THANK YOU SO MUCH xx
Thank you for reading this introduction and I hope you can follow me on my journey. I look forward to bringing you updates as Miss Bliss continues to grow.
Mel xx
